Lookbook.nu – IT’S BEEN A WHILE

Posted in Lookbook.nu, Shoes with tags , , , , , , on October 5, 2010 by Me & Marisa

My first time posing on Lookbook.nu in a long time! Thought I’d share the quick little impromptu shoot on a great bridge near my house. Just got the wine cardigan this weekend in Dallas from Urban Outfitters– I saw wine as a major trend in NYC and figured I should incorporate it 🙂
I forget how much I love these shoes- so comfortable!

IS IT TOO SOON TO WISH FOR FALL | REISS LOVE REKINDLED

Posted in Fashion, Shoes, Trends with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on August 6, 2010 by Me & Marisa

So while I was putting together the 1-year anniversary post for Me & Marisa, I stumbled on an old post Marisa and I did over a fashion line we found last summer; Reiss. We were both immediately blown away by their ultra-chic look and instantly aspired to be dressed head to toe in nothing BUT Reiss every day. Sadly, they only had stores in Europe at the time and didn’t ship across the pond.

This year, I’m glad to announce, THEY ARE IN THE USA!!! Check out their site if you like what you see here. Though this year’s lookbook doesn’t have quite the sophisticated polish of last year (Okay, it looks a little more like a stylist from Urban Outfitters put it together…) the clothes are still wonderful. Enjoy guys and gals and have a great weekend!

Definitely two of my favorite looks!

I really hate that girls can just put on an awesome dress and be done.. and look awesome. Blah… … … Okay so maybe shoes, hair and makeup are involved as well, BUT you get my point.
Tell me this isn’t an amazing piece. I dare you. Both of them for that matter! This is black lace done very right.

I think I like this look because of my friend Nicolas. His style has influenced me… grrrr.

Boots… want them… ahora…
I could seriously wear this look every day and be perfectly happy.
See what I mean. Amazing right? Whoever thier designer is, is massively under-appreciated!

DALLAS & CHELSEA HANDLER | WEEKEND RECAP

Posted in Concert, Dallas, Fashion, Food, Life, Shoes, Shopping, Weekend Recap with tags , , , , , , , , , , , on April 26, 2010 by Me & Marisa

As the title would suggest, this weekend was spent in Dallas for the Chelsea Handler show; however, I will start with Friday. On Friday Tyler 1, Tyler 2, Jonathan and myself all met up for lunch for our little tradition at Tarahumara’s Mexican restaurant. Two swirls and three green enchiladas later, I got the wonderful notion that we should go play laser tag again (see post from last weekend… I think). So we killed time till about 4 in the afternoon and then proceeded to burn off our entire lunch while getting our butts handed to us by about 17 little 12 year-olds. I ranked 5th on the first game (surprisingly), and then the second game we played it was just the four of us. SO much fun, and I am proud to say… First place baby! Boooyah! We rounded out Friday with some R&R at the hot tub where we ran into a few people we met a couple weeks ago, but, alas, our late lunch and skipping dinner caught up to us so we had to make an 11:00 pm run to Buffalo Wild Wings before calling it a night.

Saturday began at 6:30 in the morning because I was just not in the mood to pack for Dallas Friday night. We all met up at Tyler’s house around 8 and then immediately went to Starbucks before hitting the road.  The day was spent shopping at Northpark and eating (which honestly, what else should you do in Dallas?). I made it out with a couple new shirts, a pair of shorts I’m in love with, and of course some new sunglasses. All of that shopping worked up a bit of an appetite for something sweet though, so we ended our Northpark extravaganza at La Duni where I partook in a lemon meringue cupcake. After that we went and checked into our loooovely hotel, napped, got dressed, took a couple of shots (which only made sense considering who we were seeing), and then headed to Chelsea Handler. She was absolutely hysterical and I’m so glad I went. Such a fun night. This is really just part one of the weekend recap, but hope you all had a great weekend as well!

It was like one of those real bobble-head dogs!
This is where we thought Chelsea Handler was going to be when we went to go get Tyler and Jonathan’s tickets from will call…
…But then we realized that the crowd of people probably didn’t really go with Miss Handler… and sure enough, we were in the wrong place.
Northpark; Home sweet home.
As if Urban Outfitters knew Chelsea was in town.
‘Da boys in the Northpark “fishtank” at the food court.
Lol Tyler kept taking candid shots that I didn’t know about till just now putting this post together :). I like.
A little tipsy maybe… but you can say it… we look goooood
Don’t be confused if your tickets say the Nokia Theater… they mean Verizon.

Ending on a good foot. Because they wouldn’t let me take my camera in 😦

SPRING SHOPPING

Posted in Concert, Dallas, Shopping with tags , , , , , , , , , , , on April 22, 2010 by Me & Marisa

This weekend I’m headed to Dallas for the Chelsea Handler show… so of course while I’m down there, I figure I’ll do a little damage and FINALLY update my spring/summer wardrobe. I just haven’t been able to shop much lately so I’m really looking forward to it. Stoked to get back to my favorite stores down there, but in the mean time I decided to browse Urban Outfitters online to see if anything jumped out at me. I always seem to go in there with a list and walk out with completely different things. Oh well, hope your week is going well!

VERITAS INLUSTRAT | NEW ACCESSORIES

Posted in Fashion, Random, Shopping with tags , , , , , , , , on February 24, 2010 by Me & Marisa

Coco Chanel said that you should always look in the mirror and take off one accessory before leaving the house. I couldn’t agree more with Coco… it’s just hard sometimes when you have lots of new things to play around with haha. But alas, you know you’ve seen the accessory overload victims, and no one wants to look like that.
Yesterday I was going through wardrobe of what I’m wanting to take to Los Angeles next week, and I realized I have acquired quite a few new accessories for the shoot. So of course… I took pictures haha. Hope you’re having a great day, enjoy!

Shades of Greige scarf. I bought this back in November but for some reason had it shipped to my parents house where it’s been sitting in the shipping box until this weekend when I rescued it. Still trying to figure out the best way to wear it, but I like.

Love these. Here are two things actually, my new studded wrap braclet from Urban Outfitter, and my friend Nicolas got me a Marc Jacobs braclet when he visited Chicago recently. Inscription reads ” Veritas Inlustrat” or “Truth Illuminates”. I have hardly taken it off since I’ve gotten it.These necklaces are just for my photoshoot as they are a little too… I don’t even know the word, for me to wear around on a daily basis haha.
And I know it was on the last post, but it bears repeating because it is my favorite accessory right now hands down.

Things I am loving right now..

Used and Abused: Campus Fashion

Posted in college, Dallas, Fashion, Life, Shoes, Trends with tags , , , , , , , , , , on August 25, 2009 by Me & Marisa

University attire usually consists of a College tee, sweats, soffe shorts, or those jeans you wore 4 days in a row..

(…but no one really noticed… right…??)

Well that hot guy in chem probably didn’t.. but come on, there isn’t too much of an excuse to not be somewhat stylish everyday.

Yes, there are exceptions… first day of your monthly friend (TMI probably), your roommate puked in your closet after her night of Jungle Juice, and Finals week.

I know, I know, I know… its f-ing 98 degrees in Texas. and -239840238 degrees in the Science Bulding.

What. The. Hell.

How can you look cute?

….take some style notes from these lookbookers and get some ideas for how to dress for class this fall:

289654_DSC0425ds3

Thigh highs and bleach shorts with a baby thin tee and a light blazer or cardigan… perfect for the “omg wtf do I wear to class?” panic for sept/october.

20090815_09

Not all dudes can pull this look off, obvi., but I really love the organized chaos of the sweater (which probably wasn’t meant to be bracelet length on him (which makes it 10x more awesome)) with the simple grey skinny jeans.  To make this look a little more wearable for everyone.. swap the jeans for a straight leg black or grey denim.

Check our your local salvation army or goodwill to find crazy sweaters like this for cheap, so you can see if you can pull it off. =)

286453_look

This will probably end up being one of my Dallas Fall staples… cozy cashmere sweater with some leggings or skinny dark jeans, with all heights of boots.

291693__MG_3278-1

Gorgeous man, what’s not to love?  I can totally see Andrew rocking the head to toe grey.  This is PERFECT for the inbetween months.  Actually, the blazer totally reminds me of the vintage one Andrew picked up.  Some cool bleach denim jeans, and the grey dress shoes.  Is it the man, or the clothes, or the fact that he can pull off the clothes. idk. but I love it.

288687_lookbook

Another perfect look… Blazer, white graphic tee, badass shoes.. swap the tights for jean shorts or a black miniskirt (see: American Apparel or Urban Outfitters).. and you are GOOD TO GO.  Of course add the statement bracelet.

291075_SDC11129

Okay this is a look I am really gravitating towards (as well as thinking about as I do lunges across the room to the kitchen)  Micro Jean shorts, white tee, rockglam vest, and black tights.  I am obsessed with the fact that she is showing the “almost-crotch-black-part” of the tights.. Is there a name for that? You know what i mean.

20090815_05

So yeah, when are khaki blazers/light trenches not in? never. Pair it with a lighter distressed denim, and a tank, and you’re golden for class, especially between laundry days when you are missing practically everything except for jackets.

Avoid looking like the  “girl-who- didnt-check-the-weather-to-see-that-the-rain-isnt-going-to-hit-us” by rolling up the sleeves and keeping the rest of the outfit low key.

295859_adelle128

h-o-t.  A little “walk-of-shameish”. But hell, its awesome.  Loving the Mary Jane shoes with the super short shirt dress and a cardigan.  Throw this with tights, or leggings, and it is perfect for rolling to class to.

Too fancy for class? pair it with some flat slouchy boots or ankle cowboy boots.  and remember… you can always pull the “I’m meeting a friend from out of town after class for lunch and drinks!” when your bitchy galpal says “wtf, why are you SO dressed up”.

aka she’s just jealous.

290295_005

Again, loving the short shorts, simple tee… here she threw some see through mesh shorts under these micros.

I love the effect.

My version of the September Vogue “Favorites” Later this week– until then… hope everyone had a great first day of classes.
