First off, I just got home last night from a whirlwind nine days in LA that encompassed more experiences and meeting more people than I could have ever dreamed of. I attended Elton John’s Oscar party (pre, during, and after-parties) so I’ll put pics up from that as soon as I get them from my friend who took them (who is currently back in the UK and being hard to get a hold of haha).

In the meantime though- Let’s roll right into the Fall Fashion Shows that have been going on while I was off in La-La-Land.

Right off the bat- I looked at several designers and I saw some very… well… plain looks. Lots of very futuristic hoods and TONS of black and white. I know it’s Fall, and when done the right way I don’t get mad. But this is 2011 and not 2046- I’m not ready to start seeing the “pod-suit” look just yet (yes, even if they are jazzed up in primary colors like plain red, yellow and blue).

On the flip end of the spectrum, I also saw quite a few looks that seemed to evoke a slightly prairie girl/Amish feel. Also not a fan, but at least they are trying different things.  If I had to pick, I’d pick the Prairie girl over the pod-people any day. For example, Rodarte did the best job translating the trend I saw;

So here are some of my favorites (part 1 that is… there were just too many)

’70s Influences
Prairie Girl

Carolina Herrera

Never one to disappoint- Carolina certainly put out a strong collection this season and was one of my hands-down favorites.

Another one of my favorites this season- I love that (sorry PETA) fur is coming back in all the right ways. Also, I’m really digging the pops of ultraviolet purple that are coming through in several of the collections.

Hervé Léger by Max Azria

This was the first time I really have taken a look at Hervé Léger and I have to say, owned by Max Azria or no- I loved it! Some really innovative designs that were pulled together flawlessly.

This last one is WOW!  In my opinion, this is “futuristic trend” done properly.

Words cannot even begin to describe how great I found this collection; fur, metallics, amazing party dresses. Yes, yes, yes!

These two are evolving beautifully in their fashion careers, and it’s been really fun to watch them grow and develop. Their prints this collection were like wearable art- especially on their gowns. Great work definitely.

Rick Owens (Bear with me on this one)

Okay so, prepare to broaden your fashion horizons just a bit and embrace Rick Owens. EXTREME futurism, but if you are able to look at the individual pieces versus the overall look, there is genius here without a doubt.

Yes I know, this is the same pod-person look I said I hated…
This is like a crazy angel went to a Halloween party, and I’m digging it so much! It’s insane haha.

Barbara Bui

Another first timer for me and wow- I will definitely be adding the lovely Ms. Bui to my watch list from now on.

Almost the same outfit as the Balmain, just goes to show you how much I like it 😉

Random Additional

There is where the miscellaneous leftover “likes” go. We have Barbara Tfank as the first two looks, followed by Dries Van Noten (not crazy about the whole collection, but I liked the emerald and black paired with this skirt.), then Alexander Wang with the perfect example of the sheer trend. And finally a lovely look by Balenciaga!

Not sure why, but I’m really liking this- it ALMOST looks like she could be preggo… but it works for some reason.

Tell me that isn’t an awesome jacket and I will call you a liar.

Fresh Faces…Different Places: Les Hommes
Today I bring you the male models that I feel like had a great year and are definitely my favorites. Did you think the girls had all the fun?

Vladimir Ivanov
Immediately when Ivanov starting modeling for Calvin Klein everyone knew he would be moving on to bigger things. Ivanov walked in 14 of the Spring 2010 menswear shows and has had a slew of magazine editorials. This guy is on his way to superstar status.

This was Linder’s debut year and he was incredible. Walking exclusively for Jil Sander for the Fall 2009 shows and then in a large amount of the Spring 2010 shows, Linder dominated the runway and I assume we will see a lot more of him this next year.

First off I feel awful having to even do a post after Marisa’s last one which if you haven’t read you must do so ASAP. It was perhaps one of the best crafted men’s office attire article’s (yes, I’m calling it an article not a post because it’s bomb) I’ve ever read. And I’m not just being nice lol.

But alas to keep content fresh, someone has to post a blog after that and I guess now is as good a time as any ha. The past few days I’ve been sitting down with my September issues of magazines for men (and women, I’ll do the women’s post next) bookmarking my favorite looks for the season. Here are a few of my favorites.

I cannot stress how much I am in love with the Dolce & Gabanna looks- French Aristocrat. Simply amazing!

Ryan Kwanten GQ
Ryan Kwanten GQ Black and White
A friend of mine saw this editorial with Ryan Kwanten and text me and said “you two look so much alike!” well if any of you are True Blood fans that’s a big compliment lol. Not sure I agree but I’m guessing it’s because this is my facebook profile pic right now.
Andrew JonesSpeaking of which feel free to track me down on the good ‘ol f-book. I think this link will work but if not, comment and let me know:

Love the shirt that this guy is wearing, but mostly I just really liked the picture. Great feel to it.
Dior Ad
Finally, not sure who the guy is in the color photograph with the long hair (anyone know?), but I’m pretty sure this is the first time I’ve seen him. He’s got a great look and I’m calling this one a future star right now.

So I’ve been looking at some of the shows and other bloggers who have reported on the Spring/Summer 2010 men’s lines that have been showing and here are a few of my favorite things.

P.S. Today at 12:34:56 it will be 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9.

Mr Hare_00o00

Okay these Mr Hare boots are amazing! Spotted them the other day on 00o00 and I’ve been wanting them horribly ever since

00280m trussardi

Trussardi showed one piece for the spring/summer 2010 season that really caught my eye. The necklace in these pictures is what I’m talking about I have to have it pronto

Trend for men’s spring season; showing a lot of chest. Guess I should start working out

Loving this look from Dior Homme (pic from Dazed Digital)

Dries_Van_Noten DD

I am sometimes hit and miss with Dries Van Noten’s collections, but this yellow piece is pretty cool, not going to lie (DD)

Finally! Raf Simmons gave me a solution to all of those old belts. As odd as it may seem, something about it really appeals to me (DD)
