ME & MARISA DO DALLAS 2012 STYLE

Posted in Dallas, Fashion, Food, Life, photography, Shopping, Sightseeing, Weekend Recap with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on May 10, 2012 by Me & Marisa

At last! At last! Marisa and I reunited at LAST! It was nearly three years in the making – but it finally happened and while it was absolutely amazing to be reunited again – it was WAY too short (all and all it was only about 24 hours!) :(.

In true Me & Marisa fashion though, it was a weekend filled with awesome food, shopping and of course… picking up right where we left off with one of my favorite people in the world!

Enjoy the photos – hopefully they give some idea of just how much fun we had together!

P.S. Many, many trips have been planned as a result of this one, so it will certainly not be another 2 1/2 years before we are together again!

-Andrew J.

Marisa styling it up at the airport – as soon as I saw her turn the corner at baggage claim, I had the BIGGEST uncontrollable smile on my face I’ve had in ages!  She looks so east coast though, we need to get this girl back to the SOUTH!

We were both STARVING when I picked her up, so of course the very first order of business – Campisi’s on Mockingbird for some comida.

Right after lunch it was time to kick the shopping into high gear! Marisa is involved in a new vintage store that is launching in Virginia so we hit up Curiosities Antique & Vintage to see if we could find anything fun. We sort of struck out on any purchases, but we had fun checking out everything the store had to offer.

Mildly freaky…

Feeling a little bummed out that we spent our first hour and a half without purchasing anything other than food, we hit up the one place we knew we could find something… NORTHPARK!  Even then, shopping was sort of a struggle for us, things just weren’t popping out as “gotta have’s”. Never the less, I got a great shirt for dinner that night and Marisa purchased a beautiful dress (photos of that a little further down in the post).

After shopping for a couple hours – we figured it was time to check into the W Dallas where we would be calling home for the next 24 hours.  The W was awesome! Great room – though it was weird that the bathroom was completely open aside from a curtain that separated the “bathroom” space of the room from the rest of the room – and I would definitely go back and stay there again!

Our first “Reunited” picture!

I really want that rolling chair for my new office!

What’s that? A model included in with the room?! Oh – it’s Marisa. Guess she just looks very at home there 🙂

Check out the awesome curtain behind me… yep, that’s the room divider!

We booked a reservation for Tom Colicchio‘s restaurant CRAFT thinking it would be pretty close to our hotel – but come to find out, it was actually IN our hotel. So add on the fact that the only places we went after dinner were Ghost Bar (BIG mistake) and the W Bar in the hotel lobby/lounge – from 6:30 pm until noon the next morning, we never once left the W lol.

Awesome light bars in CRAFT

Warning: The portions at CRAFT are absolutely humongous but incredibly delicious – bring your appetite people, I highly recommend the restaurant though! Tom definitely knows what he is doing.

Enjoying a bevvie before dinner.

We clean up okay 🙂  – and yes, that’s Marisa’s new dress. Verrry pretty, picture doesn’t even do it justice.

I really really loved the Lobby Bar Chandeliers at the W!

Ready to turn in for the night – back to the room!

I know I said I wouldn’t post it – but it’s really just too friggin cute of you not to post, if you want I can take it down ;). Marisa got hungry in the middle of the night and tackled some of the leftovers from dinner and lunch before lights out.

The next morning we both realized we … had not consumed enough water the night before… and I woke up to random pieces of Campisi’s pizza crust and a muffin CRAFT gave us for the next morning like so…

The morning after.

After we got up and around – we checked out of the W and headed to Knox-Henderson for some brunch at Tolouse. Fantastic brunch by the way (also highly recommend)!

Bloody Marry’s, Bagels, Beignets (with cappuccino sauce), and Belgian waffles (we were on a B kick apparently) made for the perfect Brunch!

After brunch – to postpone our inevitable departure, we kicked it over to Restoration Hardware and picked out my new dream furniture for my house.

Alas though – all good things must come to an end (yes, like this epic blog post). I dropped Marisa north of Dallas at her friends house and began my trek back to Norman. A very sad day, but SO glad it happened! Already cannot wait to see her again!

See you soon my friend – love you and miss you!

CARLOS SANTANA | BOK CENTER CONCERT

Posted in Concert, Fashion, Life, Music, Weekend Recap with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , on September 27, 2011 by Me & Marisa

So okay I did a pretty bad job of updating during those extremely busy weeks lol. But HERE I AM!

I’ll start as close to the beginning as possible — I’m skipping my mom’s birthday weekend in Branson just because I really don’t have any pics from that trip that I took. My sister and mom have a lot, but the likelihood that I’ll ever see them is… well… slim.

So! That said, moving right along to what happened right after we came back from that trip – Back in May I bought tickets for my Dad’s birthday to go to Carlos Santana at the BOK Center in Tulsa. I had honestly all but forgotten about them until like a month before — probably why I never go to many concerts, I never have the foresight or knowledge about them before everyone is already talking about them coming to town, and all of the tickets are at that point gone.

So any who, we made it a family affair and all went and had a great night of music and a whole lot of… for lack of a better word… seat shimmying.

Michael Franti was his opening act and while I really enjoyed him, it wasn’t until his final song that I realized he was the guy who did the “Say Hey” song lol.

Santana himself was amazing! I got a few videos on my phone, which I will post… someday, and then took a ton of pics on my iPhone as well — only as for usual, all concert pictures come out looking exactly the same lol. In any case, some are posted below.  The concert ran just shy of 4 hours, and after a few “jam sessions” encroaching on 11:00 pm I was feeling my inner old-timer come out and was ready to jet. All in all though, great concert!

Up next: Chicago! and after that, NASHVILLE! So stay tuned and I’ll do my darndest to keep the blogs a little closer to each other — I saw our blog traffic dip below 100 hits/day for the first time since we started basically… not cool… gotta increase the postings :)!

-Andrew J

The Jones Kids trying to style up the concert going experience a little. Funny story though – notice the brown cords I’m wearing? Well I had planned to wear some new jeans to this concert… but of course I forgot to pack them. In fact I forgot to pack anything OTHER than shorts — luckily my Dad had just gone through his closet to give me some pants to see if I wanted them. Basically I’ve now ended up with probably 8-10 pairs of AWESOME vintage pants that happen to all reflect trends going on this year!
Michael Franti kept interacting with the audience a LOT – it was awesome, he even pulled a few people out of their chairs and had them come dance down on the floor with him. Great energy!

Okay so I’m a little proud of these two pics of Carlos Santana onstage… especially considering I was using my iPhone 3GS camera zoom lol.
This guy did the vocals for almost all of his songs, and he was REALLY, REALLY GOOD!

TEXAS TENNIS OPEN & THE HEARTLINE FESTIVAL OF HOPE

Posted in Charity, Dallas, Food, Life, Weekend Recap with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on August 30, 2011 by Me & Marisa

This weekend was pretty packed to put it mildly!

Friday night, I got to don my tuxedo once again and go out to a fantastic annual charity event for Heartline: Festival of Hope. It was a gorgeous event, and honestly the food was absolutely delicious!  There was a silent auction, and I bid on a couple of items… however, unless I’ve missed their calls, I didn’t win lol. Which I’m really bummed about because there was a painting there I was pretty much in love with.

Saturday – bright and early, I got up to go to breakfast with a couple friends at a little local “hole-in-the-wall” restaurant – Ozzie’s – here in Norman… at 7 AM!!!  Because after that I had to hit the road and head to the first ever final for the Texas Tennis Open!

There were two finals – doubles and singles. The doubles involved: Alberta Brianti and Sorana Cirstea (Italy and Romania respectively) against Alize Cornet and Pauline Parmentier (from France… of course). It was a VERY entertaining match and lasted for quite a bit… but I have to say, the 106 degree weather without sunscreen made it a little less than pleasurable ha.

Sorana Cristea is really beautiful! Texas Tennis Open

After the doubles, I went in a mad dash in search of food before the singles final between Sabine Lisicki (about 20th in the world from Germany) and Aravane Rezai (from France… naturally). Ironically, both Frenchies lost lol. Sabine was absolutely AMAZING and totally blew her away. Rezai just ended up giving up towards the end.

The evening I was pretty much exhausted so called it an early night and woke up bright and early the next morning to go meet by better half (and new Dallas resident) Dominique for brunch at Breadwinners. I had banana bread french toast — my life is now complete.

All in all, a very good weekend! Hope yours was equally amazing!

It’s going to be a whirlwind next 6 weeks and I won’t be home ANY of the weekends – so I’ll try to do posts more regularly to keep you up to date!

Have a great night.

-Andrew

Oh and I ended the weekend with painting my bathroom a color (not done justice here) I now affectionately have dubbed “Expectant Baby Boy Blue”

DALLAS GIRLS | MY NEW TUX

Posted in Dallas, Fashion, Shopping, Weekend Recap with tags , , , , , , , , , , on February 20, 2011 by Me & Marisa

Just a short post- last weekend I went to Dallas with Tyler, Dominique and her sister to go have one last hurrah and a little shopping before we watched Tyler leave us all for France, and also to get my tux for LA this weekend.  I didn’t have my camera- so I had to rely on point and shoots (please, hold your gasps of disapproval). Dominique and her sisters I must say are some of the best dressed girls- their style really is genetic too as they all always look great :).

Hope you’re having a wonderful weekend! Enjoy the pics!
-Andrew J

My new Boss Black Tux from Nordstrom.

Dominique all set and ready to go to Northpark

But Dobbie was not to be shown up, rocking an awesome shoulder padded jacket from BCBG

Post shopping, getting ready to head out for a bit in Uptown (Ah, memories of my Dallas past.). Dominique rocking her version of the BCBG Jacket

And finally, Dobbie and her boyfriend (and a new dress she got that day from Armani Exchange).

There you have it, short but sweet 🙂

POST 300

Posted in Fashion, Food, Life, Oklahoma, photography, Random, Weekend Recap with tags , , , , , on January 18, 2011 by Me & Marisa

So this is it- Post 300! And what better idea for a post than an impromptu photoshoot with two of the best people I know- Dominique and Tyler. As I said, it happened all very spur of the moment- but Dominique, Tyler and I all got together over the weekend to play a little Wii, grab some dinner and end the night just hanging out together (okay maybe there was a game of Apples to Apples thrown in there as well).  When everyone was in one place, I couldn’t help but think we all looked great and thus a photoshoot was born :). Hope your weekend went well!
P.S. How about this! Two posts in less than a week haha. If you want to know where my time has been going it’s here- http://NewMediaFluent.com  I swear that site is never finished!
-Andrew J

Dominique and I didn’t even plan for our legs to go that way.
Great new Betsey Johnson pearl tie necklace that I think was probably one of Dom’s favorite Christmas presents… well that and DJ Hero 2.
She was channeling this whole french theme, fully equipped with eiffel tower earrings.
You lookin at me? You lookin at me!?  … dunno why I felt like saying that.
TO MY CREDIT! This photo was NOT my idea! Dom said she was in love with my ring and wanted to kiss it.
Norman did a great job that evening with the sunset.
A little food-porn to send us off.
Ah yes, and the lovely Marion stopped by at the end of the night to make it complete.

IT’S BEGINNING TO LOOK A LOT LIKE CHRISTMAS

Posted in Life, Oklahoma, Random, Sightseeing, Weekend Recap with tags , , , , on December 15, 2010 by Me & Marisa

Over the weekend, myself and a posse of three headed south of Norman about an hour to Chickasha, Oklahoma to take in the famous (at least in the region) light display there. It was a long drive, but once there it was TOTALLY worth it! Everywhere you looked- you were completely immersed in Christmas lights. I kept saying “This is where lights who are good go when they die.” The pictures really do not do it justice, but take my word for it- if you are in the area around Christmas– you should definitely go!  Hope your week is going well!

P.S. I was late for my friends pick-up time so I had to rush home (they beat me there), let the dog out, and get in their car… in the meantime I forgot my camera… so this is all on iPhone.

-Andrew J

This tree had to be at least 3 1/2-4 stories tall. It was quite grande! Well just look at the people under to get some perspective.
Yes I was looking quite fashionable in my blanket which happened to be in the back of Tori’s car… because in my rush I, of course, forgot a jacket… yeah.

An Evening In Bricktown

Posted in Fashion, Lookbook.nu, Movies, Oklahoma, Weekend Recap with tags , , , , , , on October 27, 2010 by Me & Marisa

Hey all, yes I know, it’s been a while– again. Honestly I’m just almost losing my mind lately- My business is really going well and I’m working at least 12 hour days so blogging has kinda taken a back seat. I mean… I still have photos from NYC a month ago that I REALLY want to get up on the site. Anywho, all this is to say- I’ll try to blog more, but if I can’t do more than like once a week, pleeeease understand why :).

Here are some pics from Sunday when I spent the evening in Bricktown in downtown OKC. Great night, great dinner, wonderful weather, live music… and then I ended it with Paranormal Activity 2 which scared the crap out of me! Hope your weekend went really well! Enjoy
