I dreamt of a White Christmas and sure enough I got one! Tuesday night before the big day I went up to Claremore and had a “family Christmas” with my Mom, Dad and Sister before we made the trek down on Wednesday for the actual day. We do this to avoid having to haul all of our presents down to my grandpa’s house in Shawnee because, quite frankly, they wouldn’t fit :/… So Wednesday was the day the big blizzard hit and I have to say driving a drive that should take 2 hours and took closer to 4 in near white out conditions can be a little intense at times. I got some great pictures of the snow, however becuase I don’t want to make this post a novel, I’ll post those pics in a seperate one. Christmas day was amazing! and I know I’m like 6 days behind, but I DID get stranded in Shawnee. I don’t have any pictures from Christmas morning (not that I would post them since we literally do it when we first wake up lol), so a few from family Christmas will have to do. All I can say is I think I made out like a bandit :)! Hope you had an AMAZING Christmas, and Happy New Years Eve everyone!!!

Yes, she bakes.
Dresses on the dogs was NOT my idea… the brown one (Copper) got revenge by peeing in the floor right next to us until we took it off of her. Clever girl.
Lol this was too funny, I was with my mom in the store and we saw the old Yule Log DVD’s, so she got one for both me and my sister.
You don’t understand, I suck at wraping presents and this was maybe my best one ever!
Okay, adorable.

We got each other some clothes, great minds lol.

My dad got me this great Huichole bracelet from Puerto Vallarta, MX
Shoes :)! I got a great brown pointy dress pair on Christmas day that I’ll have to photograph and post as well!
A little something picked up and saved for my sister from my time in Dallas
Lol, okay, so I never had Where The Wild Things Are growing up, so… so I wouldn’t feel deprived, she got it for me ha.
Changing of the guard, goodbye Blackberry, I will miss you.

These boots saved my butt! Thank you John Varvatos!!! I’m pretty sure I wore them every single day during the snow.X-Mas tree in Shawnee
And… my sister getting creative… she had boots in the car, it’s beyond me why she chose to put on flats…

I love dressing for cold weather 🙂

Okay so this is the post I mentioned right before the holiday that I said I was still working on. I came across a photo the other day that had a really mystical and magic feel to it, so I began seeking out other photos that had the same etheral feel, almost lacking a sense of gravity. These are my favorites of that search. I hope you had a wonderful Christmas! I’m currently frustrated with technology… I’m switching my business website and so my email is currently down AND I’m also getting rid of COX Cable and switching to AT&T becuase COX has been giving me too much trouble lately. SO I’m without internet at my house too which I will be returning to tomorrow… Major sad face. So please bear with me I know it’s been chaotic lately ;). Anywho, finally on to the pictures:

The inspiration

I really like the editing on this photo. Great light effects!

This one is absolutely magic to me and perhaps my favorite picture of the set! She looks like the element of ice surrounded by sparks submerged in water. Whoever is responsible for this photo is a genius! This last one is another favorite. It feels like the end of summer.

MERRY CHRISTMAS GUYS :D!!! Today I’m very excited becuase I just received news that we may very well be getting 3-5″ of snow today which would mean… A WHITE CHRISTMAS :D!!! I had a post working on, but I am just noooot quite satisfied with it yet, so I’m going to wait to post it until after Christmas. My family and I are headed down to Shawnee today to spend the big day with my grandpa and my mom’s side of the family. Kinda a family tradition. Anywho, I have to go get dressed because I was also just told I’m leaving in an hour and 1/2 and I’m no where near dressed or packed lol. So again, Merry Christmas! I hope Santa brings you everything your heart desires ;)!

This weekend was the Masquerade party I’d been looking forward to for a while now and it was definitely a great time! I’m amazed how into it everyone got and I especially loved that hardly anyone showed up without a mask… even if they took it off shortly after arriving. In true experienced party guy style, I brought two masks: The gold and red argyle full face mask for entering the party in and doing pictures, and then the infinitely more functional black eye mask that I switched into after I had all the pictures I could take. All in all, great times and beautiful people… Or as Marion put it “A Masquerade Night; What the fabulous do when they get bored.” lol I loved it! On to the pictures! Hope your weekend was great as well!!!

This may be one of my favorite pictures EVER!

This girl was very fashionable and some how, though you can’t really see, she matched the fabric on her mask to her dress!

Marion captioned this pic as saying: “Argyle Jason mask and sparkly demon eyes… did I miss the fashionable horror film memo” I thought it was an apt description for sure

So not only is today my very last final of college EVER (unless I decide to get another degree)!!! But… my internet is broken :/… Yeah I know… it sucks. SO, the combination of finals stress, swine-flu (cause yeah I’m pretty sure I have it) and the lack of internet as of Tuesday explains why I haven’t been able to post this week. I will deal with the internet thing tomorrow (hopefully), but I am going to Tulsa tomorrow to see the Nutcracker with my family and then I have a masquerade party on Saturday which I’m looking forward to. I’ll definitely take pictures and will have a post up soon I promise. Till then, please bear with me :). Hope you’re having a great week!

Fresh Faces…Different Places: Les Hommes
Today I bring you the male models that I feel like had a great year and are definitely my favorites. Did you think the girls had all the fun?

Vladimir Ivanov
Immediately when Ivanov starting modeling for Calvin Klein everyone knew he would be moving on to bigger things. Ivanov walked in 14 of the Spring 2010 menswear shows and has had a slew of magazine editorials. This guy is on his way to superstar status.

Patrick Kafka
Kafka won a modeling contest at the end of 2008 and was shot in various editorials, including L’Officiel Hommes shortly after. Walking the runway in some of the seasons best shows and widening his portfolio, Kafka is on track for a successful career with his unique look.

 Johannes Linder
This was Linder’s debut year and he was incredible. Walking exclusively for Jil Sander for the Fall 2009 shows and then in a large amount of the Spring 2010 shows, Linder dominated the runway and I assume we will see a lot more of him this next year.

Today we’re doing something we’ve never done before here on Me & Marisa, and that is having a guest blogger. Today the post is coming from one of my extremely fashion savvy friends; Nicolas Bebout. Nicolas has aspirations to go to work at a New York City modeling agency, so it seems only fitting that he would be doing a post on his favorite models of the year. Hope you all had a great weekend! I’m afraid I’m down with the flu :/. Take it away Nicolas!

Fresh Faces…Different Places: Les Femmes
Fashion may make the man, but a model is what creates the excitement…at least I think so anyways. I thought it would be a brilliant idea for Me and Marisa to have a couple posts about models that were outstanding this past season/year. So I pitched the idea to Andrew and here we are!

Abbey Lee
Perhaps my favorite female model that is making a huge name for herself at the moment. Lee is making her mark on the runway, walking in shows this past season for the likes of Givenchy, Gucci, Phillip Lim, Zac Posen and Lanvin, just to name a few. She has also made her mark in editorials, major ad campaigns (Calvin Klein and Gucci fragrance), and even walked in the 2009 Victoria’s Secret fashion show. Watch out, this girl is on fire!!

Anna Selezneva
A standout from when I saw her walk the Michael Kors Fall 2009 show, Anna Selezneva reminds me of younger Jessica Stam with her piercing eyes and ability to really take on whatever she is modeling. Selezneva had a great runway season for the Spring 2010 shows and is sure to be back for the Fall 2010 season.

Alexander Wang Spring 2010

Burberry Spring 2010

Hermès Spring 2010

Valentino Spring 2010

Chinese Vogue

Maryna Linchuk
Maryna has created a great balance between editorial/covers and runway. She excelled in the Spring 2010 show season and creates a great presence when she is photographed.

Christian Dior Spring 2010

Dolce and Gabbana Spring 2010

Stella McCartney Spring 2010

Toni Garrn
Toni had a great year, especially in print. While Garrn walked in shows like Bottega Veneta, Christian Dior, Fendi, and Chanel, her print work is what got my attention. Major advertising campaigns and covers propelled Toni to more than just a runway model and I can’t wait to see where she shows up next year.
